Creating Visual Experiences with Flex 3.0 : Book Review

On Dec. 1st I received my copy of ‘Creating Visual Experiences with Flex 3.0‘, by Juan Sanchez and Andy McIntosh (2009 Pearson Education Inc).  I am a bit of a book fanatic, and find that books are my best resource, but lately there has been a glut of Flex and Air books to hit the market so I was a little skeptical about an AFFB (another freaking flex book).  Then I read this book, actually the entire book in 3 1/2 days.  All I have to say is… “freaking brilliant.”  This is not AFFB. To Button or not to Button

That seems to be the question for many web designers. As the years have passed buttons have come in and out of vouge. About five years ago I remember being told by the president of the company I work for that “buttons were old and outdated and my high school son even knows that links are the way modern websites navigate, buttons are for the those behind the times.” (more…)

Just Getting Started

I guess it was finally time for me to start a blog and why not, all the other kids are doing it.  I decided to share my grammatically incorrect and opinionated views on web development and user interface design with all those folks I can sucker into reading this blog.  If this works out I can quit my job and write this blog while selling popsicle sticks on a beach, as long as they have free wireless on the beach.

If you haven’t figured it out by now I don’t take myself too seriously, but I do have a few skills and ideas that I have honed over the past 10+ years of creating websites and web applications.  So enjoy and don’t be shy to let me know what you are thinking.
