Raleigh, North Carolina, is stuck in the midst of a snow storm. By my standards this is not a snow storm but rather a minor irritation. But since everything is shut down I decided to create a new blog theme. I had a few hours to kill and it seemed like a good idea, actually it was. I popped open my favorite IDE and started writing CSS, in about an hour I had come up with a theme and the general look and feel; which is what you are looking at right now. I know there are a lot of little things left to do, there always is when creating a theme, but hey… there is always tomorrow since we are snowed in. Check out the before picture…
and let me know your thoughts or ideas that I could implement.
I decided to use Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale logo as inspiration. I really like the colors they use and I also enjoy that particular beer. Greens good, isn’t everyone going green? I figured I would join the going green craze myself.
Tools used:
Fireworks – I had to make a few changes to modify my inspirational logo. A few minutes with the rubber stamp tool, and eraser; some clever cropping and canvas trimming; done with the logo.
IDE – I used Dreamweaver, code view only, guess I just don’t get the need for the WYSIWYG/Design view. All the work is in the CSS and it’s not complicated so just type it in the darn file.
Well, that’s how I spent a few hours of the ‘Great Blizzard of 2010 in Raleigh.’ Tomorrow I get to finish all the little things…
